Add me to the BIG watch, small wrist crowd.
"You should be proud...not many made it this long"...my colleague said to me after I picked up my 5 year service award, and received my watch. He did have a point though, since many have left and didn't make it anywhere near 5 years here. As he said it, it's better to be with the devil you know, than to be with the devil you don't know.
The watch is probably my first watch since I started working. It's a TAG Heuer Aquaracer Grande Date Chrono..that's a handful of names. And it's HUGEEEEEE. Sure have some heft to it, but I'm actually liking the feel when I wore it...granted I had 6 (SIX!!!) links taken out to accommodate my tiny wrist.
This watch symbolizes 5 years of sweat and blood (well, not literally) in a tough company, where not many "survived" this long, and I certainly feel proud wearing it. Kind of like an being apart of a secret "we've been through 5 years of hell..and we're still here" club. It feels substantial...just like the watch itself.
That being said, it has never crossed my mind that I would be wearing a watch on the pretense that my wrist is too small...well, I was proven wrong. Looking for some watches at the moment too, a casual and an outdoor watch.
I've never been this excited over a watch...here we go...
